Russia Trip
February 2007
February 16, 2007
Greetings from Moscow
I just thought I'd drop a note and say hi to everyone at Faith Community
Fellowship! It's bitter cold here in Moscow, of course, but from what I
understand I'm living in the midst of less snow than Massillon is!
I am staying with a Russian family.....the mother is a German teacher at Moscow
State University, so I'm brushing up on my German as well as learning Russian.
I've come here not knowing anything....how to order from a menu, how to hail a
taxi, which bus goes where, so this has been a good experience in starting from
ground zero.
The main purpose of this trip is to continue to look at the visual in worship
as part of my sabbatical project. This weekend I will go to St. Catherine's
cathedral, which has services in English. I'll also be looking at come church
art. Tentatively, I've made arrangements to visit a church-based alcohol
recovery center......somewhat along the same vein that Bill Murray and I
pursued when we looked a 4 recovery efforts in Voronezh a year ago. It has a
reputation for being very helpful....I want to see what they do there.
I pray all is going well with the in-home meetings. This is an exciting time
for Faith Community Fellowship! God is good - this trip has served to remind
me of the significance of the Gospel and how we all need Christ. Continue to
pray for God's guidance and hand in our midst as we seek to be His ambassadors
in the community and regions where He has placed us!
Much love, in Christ,
Pastor Dave
