II Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”
God has perfect timing. Never too rushed, never too slow. In this passage in II Peter the context is speaking about when the Lord will return again and some were questioning this, saying stuff like, hey hasn’t it been a while? maybe He’s not coming back? Seeking to bring doubt and despair into believer’s minds and hearts.
The response comes to these accusations. God isn’t slow concerning His promise. We think of slow as it doesn’t happen when we want it to or when it should happen or think it should. God is patient. He knows the time, the perfect time, the right time that He will return. He isn’t going to rush it or speed up the clock. He is waiting for the perfect and right time, which He already knows.
We don’t always enjoy or like how God times things and situations in our lives but because He is Sovereign there is always a reason which makes it always the perfect and right time. If we receive it that way or not is our issue, not God’s.
May we seek what He is trying to show us about Himself and ourselves through the timing of things in our lives, because it is always His perfect and right time for it.
And may we remember, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”
